Hiya! My name is Shawna, and I’d like to welcome you to,
well…ME!
Some of you may know me in real life, or perhaps we’ve encountered
each other on various social media platforms. Perhaps, you’ve stumbled upon my
little corner of the interwebs purely by accident and are simply wondering who
the blazes I am, and what I’m all about. Whatever the case, I shall do my best
to clue you in.
Like most Witches, I have always felt a great affinity for
nature, and felt that everything in the universe (people, animals, trees,
flowers, the sun, the wind, the rain, etc.….) was somehow connected.
As a
child, I would often sit in the grass, eyes closed, face to the sun, and listen
to the trees rustling in the breeze, believing that the sound was some kind of
message - even if I didn’t know what it was.
Over the years, I experienced many prophetic
dreams, and countless instances of Deja Vu. I always believed in the power of energy,
and that we could manipulate that energy to make things happen, but thought I
was the only one who did…until 2003.
How I remained oblivious to Paganism, Wicca, &
Witchcraft until then I have NO IDEA. I must have been living in some sort of proverbial
spiritual cave. Fast forward to Christmas of 2002, this is when my mother gave
me Scott Cunningham’s book Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner. It would seem,
that Mom knew I was a witch before I did…which is often the way with mothers,
isn’t it? Anyway, I was like “OK, this looks interesting” while secretly having
no clue what I held in my hand. I put the book away on a shelf until the New
Year, and decided to read it one night in the late spring.
So, there I am, sitting in the living room with my husband
(No clue what he was doing) and as I read Mr. Cunningham’s explanations of the
nature of things (connections, energies, Divinity, all that jazz) I exclaimed…yes,
exclaimed “HOLY SHIT, IT’S A THING!”. This naturally made the hubs look at me
like I was bonkers (nothing new). So, I proceeded to read a few paragraphs so
he understood what I was talking about. I then got that nod and look
accompanied by an “Ahhh” that says - “Whatever you say, Kooky Britches. I’m going
back to what I was doing now.”
I spent months reading, and studying, and researching. Found
places to purchase tools, and self-dedicated myself to The Craft of the Wise on
Lughnasadh of 2003. Over the following year, I worked through the entirety of
Raymond Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft.
I have since learned much from countless books, mentors,
workshops, classes, certifications, an online coven/witchcraft academy, a local
coven I have been training with since 2011, and most of all - Life.
I am a Witty and Sarcastic Geek Girl with ADHD, an Empath, a
Dream Interpreter, a Card Reader, an Artist/Photographer/Writer, an Animal
Lover, a Wife, a Mother, a Grandmother, a Proud Resister, a Reiki Master, a Fierce
Advocate for Peace & Equality, and an Eclectic Witch.
I am the Resident Pixie of this little corner of the interwebs, and My Craft is as varied as my interests. Expect a little bit of
everything to pop up here at one time or another…along with a whole mess of Pop
Culture References.
If you’re curious about what the name of this blog is all
about (I realize “Pixilated” is an unusual word) be sure to check out this
