Foresight Friday: It’s Self-Care Week! (Do it Responsibly)

Divination Method: The Labyrinth Tarot

Card Drawn: The Empress, Reversed

Key Word: Self-Care, Recharge

My Foresight Friday Interpretation:

Howdy friends, I hope that the ride you went on last week wasn't too rough; and that Sam and Dean took you on an adventure that was just wild enough (without getting too crazy) and was maybe even a little fun.

This week I've switched over to the Labyrinth tarot because I felt like I needed a little bit of a change, but I still needed something that my brain could interpret easily. So, what does the land of the Labyrinth have to tell us? Keep on reading to find out...

Our card this week is the Empress reversed. Depicted on this card is Sarah's stepmother. Now, if you're anything like me, Sarah's stepmother may have annoyed you quite a bit while watching the movie. She seemed a little bossy, perhaps a little unreasonable, but it turns out she does actually exude some Empress energy.

The Empress in the upright position is generally about nurturing and caring for others much like a mothering role (as a mom & step-mom, she certainly makes sense). In the reversed position the Empress tells us to take that nurturing energy and turn it on ourselves. This is the time for some much-needed self-care.

The Empress card from the Labyrinth Tarot in the reversed position.

If you watch RuPaul's Drag Race you'll be familiar with Mama Ru's line "If you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” I'd like to change it up a little bit so that it applies in this instance. My version of Mama Ru's line would be “If you don't take care of yourself, how in the hell are you gonna take care of somebody else?”

As I write this post, I am battling the beginnings of a migraine, oh joy. So, I'm going to cut this short...ish because I need to do a little bit of this self-care thing right now.

To wrap this up, I’ll say to go ahead, take care of yourself. Take a little rest and don't feel guilty about it. However, one word of caution to keep in mind: go about your self-care in a responsible manner. What do I mean by this? Well, take Sarah’s stepmother for example, she needed a break and a date night with her husband – not a damn thing wrong with that. Her mistake was trusting her infant son with someone who did not want to care for him. Learn from her mistake and leave your responsibilities for a little while, but make sure that whomever you leave your responsibilities with is a willing participant. Otherwise, you might lose something precious to the confines of the Goblin City.

Until Next Time, Pixilators!
