Foresight Friday: It’s Time to See The Forest, Not Just The Trees

Divination Method: Threads of Fate Oracle

Card(s) Drawn: The Observer

Element: Ether

My Foresight Friday Interpretation:

Happy Friday, Pixilators! I hope you’ve all had a decent week. It’s been ridiculously hot and humid where I am (hence the iced coffee in the photo above), but I still managed to listen to my own advice from last week’s reading and spent some time making a few discoveries (and rediscoveries) about myself. These discoveries resulted in some pretty good magic, a rather speedy completion of some commissioned art, as well as doing a few mundane chores.

This week we are tasked with something that is, as my daughter would say when she was little “Exactly the same…but different”. Let’s find out where I’m going with this, shall we?

This week’s card comes to us from the Threads of Fate Oracle, and while the last seven days involved spending at least a little time looking within and learning somethings about ourselves , this next seven has us spending time looking outward to discover something about the world around us.

Our card is The Observer. Its element is the Ether, and Ether cards are very similar to those of the Major Arcana in Tarot. They deal more with grander ideas, roles, and themes. More of “The Big Picture” rather than with specific events/ideas/tasks.

Not surprisingly, The Observer tasks us with paying attention to our surroundings, and the happenings of our world. It’s time to sit back and really see what’s going on.

The Observer is not a judge, not a problem solver, nor are they reactionary. A balanced Observer watches and collects as much information as possible without trying to immediately make sense of it all.

The Observer card from the Threads of Fate Oracle

The balanced Observer understands that there is a time and a place for everything - including action and inaction. This is not to say that we are to sit idly by and do nothing if such inaction would actually cause someone else harm. It is to note that sometimes action on our part is not always the wisest course if we haven’t gathered all of the facts.

We’re tasked with witnessing, watching, and waiting to see what happens next. If we are balanced, we’ll not become stagnant and stay too long…we’ll sense when it’s time to move on to something else.

If The Observer is unbalanced, they may stay in one place too long, and become discouraged and overwhelmed by what they witness - as they feel that there is nothing they can do to change things.

So, I guess a little self-awareness is also key for the week ahead. If we feel out of balance, we should take some time to find our footing, and then get on with the business of seeing whatever it is that we need to see.

I know this is vague, but you know what? Sometimes life is pretty vague, and we don’t know what we need to know until we know it. I don’t make the rules, but I’ve observed enough in my time on this Earth to know it to be true.

There’s a lot going on in our world. COVID-19 and its variants are once again running amok. Fires are raging across the globe; political divides are the widest they’ve been in my lifetime, societal changes are churning and gaining momentum, along with a myriad of other things too great in number to list here.

I’m not mentioning these things to freak anyone out, I’m just saying that because there is literally SO MUCH happening, that the cards are telling us that it’s okay to seemingly disengage for a bit…so long as we don’t stop seeing.

We’re being told that we haven’t been able to see the forest because we’ve been focusing on each individual tree. So, we need to take a few steps back, and start bearing objective witness to the bigger picture.

Until Next Time, Pixilators

Wishing You Peace, Love, & Pixie Dust
