Foresight Friday: Find Gratitude in Darkness and Spread Your Light

Oracle Card Reading using Flower Magic Oracle Cards by Rachel Patterson

Foresight Friday: Find Gratitude in Darkness and Spread Your Light

Divination Method: Flower Magic Oracle

Card Drawn: Astrantia

Key Word: Darkness

Words of Wisdom:

“A shining light deep in the dark,

keep a lookout for that spark.

'Tis blackness that balances the light.

Dig deep and reach with all your might.

Find yourself, don't disappear,

for the glint of light is always near.”

My Foresight Friday Interpretation:

Today’s card is Astrantia. This lovely flower is used in magic for rising out of depression as well as to bring balance between daek & light.

So what does that mean for us? From the moment I drew this card, all I can think of is a Mabon ritual I wrote four years ago. I had been trying to write it for months and was having a hell of a time, because the ONLY word I kept hearing in my head was "Darkness".

I was thoroughly perplexed, because that isn't a word most people attribute to a Harvest holiday...but, I don't normally see things as most people do. ANYWAY, I am feeling the message of that Mabon is the message that we need in the week(s) to come.

Darkness can be unpleasant and scary sometimes, but...if it were not for the darkened sky, we would not be able to see the light of the stars.

This duality of Darkness & Light resides in all things, ourselves included.

Astrantia Card from Flower Magic Oracle Cards by Rachel Patterson
Astrantia tells us it is time for deep introspection and self-reflection. When diving into the
depths of our own being, it can be easy to be overwhelmed by the dark demons that lie within. The key to not allowing ourselves to be consumed by it is to find balance by focusing on something that will eventually lead us back into the light.

So, how do we manage to keep our inner demons at bay and deny the seemingly increasing amounts of cruelty of the world around us as they try to destroy the light of our spirit?

One three-syllable word that we're all likely to see a lot of in the next week due to the upcoming secular Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S.: Gratitude. Yup, Gratitude is the light that can lead us out of the darkness. No matter how bad a day may be, if we're able to find one little thing to be grateful for, we can keep ourselves from being consumed by it.

No need for it to be anything big either. It really can be as easy as finding the silver lining in any given situation. In the words of Monty Python: Always look on the bright side of life!

This week, embrace the darkness. It is within the vastness of the dark that transformation occurs. We're being called to meditate on the darker aspects of our souls. We can take the pain, anger, and frustration that lies within us, and use that energy to our own purposes. We can do this by finding even one little positive thing that has been a result of these experiences.

We must count our blessings, be grateful, and reflect on a time when we were not as fortunate as we are now.  And when all else fails...BE the light that shines in someone else's darkness. Assist those in need, say a kind word, share funny memes and cute animal videos. By doing these seemingly little things, we not only help each other out...we just might make the world a brighter place in the process. I think we can all agree that a brighter world is truly something to be grateful for.

Until Next Time, Pixilators!
